About the job
xneelo is looking for a talented Financial Manager to join the group finance function. At xneelo, the focus is on collaboration rather than the management of divisional silos, and roles are structured to meet organisational needs and individual strengths. Reporting to the Head of Finance, this role will focus on collaborating closely with finance team members and partnering with the rest of the organisation to understand and improve financial systems, processes and controls.
Success in this role will require in-depth knowledge of management accounting objectives, financial reporting best practices, cross-jurisdictional nuances, attention to detail and critical thinking, and a desire to work actively with people on a day-to-day basis, with integrity, humility and professionalism.
xneelo is in a growth phase of its development lifecycle, and the work of this role will contribute to setting up the group for its next phase of success, while delivering the highest standards in the present.
Specifically, you will be responsible for:
Leadership, cross-skilling and peer collaboration - simultaneously acting as back-up to all finance team members, including the Head of Finance, and identifying and implementing systems improvements
Financial process refinement, automation and system change management
Contributing to monthly, quarterly and annual control procedures
Partnering with internal teams (development, product and customer service teams)
Key contributor to financial reporting and compliance, in IFRS and IFRS for SMEs, in South Africa and Europe
Required attributes
For success in this role, we expect you to have demonstrated ability with:
Business Insight and Communication: As an astute leader, understand business operations beyond finance, grasp the impact of financial decisions, communicate effectively with all stakeholders, and spearhead and drive relevant projects to completion.
Strategic Thinking and Risk Management: Align financial strategies with business goals, anticipate trends, assess risks and opportunities, and provide sound recommendations.
Sparring Partner: Develop informed opinions, actively participate in strategic and tactical decision-making, and contribute to shaping overall financial direction.
Analytical Skills: Interpret complex data, identify trends, solve problems, and make decisions based on detailed quantitative analysis. This involves being detail-oriented, having a knack for problem-solving and creating quality documentation.
Mastery of Financial Principles: Demonstrate a deep understanding of financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, risk management, and proficiency in financial modeling and relevant software, and impeccable standards of audit trail generation
Financial Reporting Knowledge: Expert in financial reporting standards (IFRS, IFRS for SMEs, local GAAPs) for preparing AFS and ensuring regulatory compliance. You will be a subject matter expert within the organisation, so the ability to research, synthesise and form informed conclusions is key.
Adaptability and Ethical Conduct: The ability to take initiative, adapt to dynamic environments, solve problems creatively, hold yourself and others accountable, learn continuously, and uphold high ethical standards is invaluable.
