Financial Cost Controller (Grade 10)

Finance Division

The Finance Division invites suitably qualified candidates to join their team.

Main Objectives

To provide an effective and efficient financial administration and cost accounting function in relation to Council Controlled and Council Managed Funds, to support management within the Finance Division, Departments and Divisions. To analyse costs, control expenditure, prepare budgets, and evaluate new initiatives within the University’s policies and procedures. To produce accurate and timeous management reports, prepared on the basis of Generally Accepted Accounting Practice and International Accounting Standards.

The Requirements

A relevant National Diploma (NQF level 6) equivalent with Financial Accounting or Cost and Management Accounting, plus approximately 3 years’ relevant experience where such experience includes:

  • Working in a pressurised computerised cost and management accounting environment where there were multiple demands and tight deadlines.
  • Recording, analysing and maintaining accounting transactions within the applicable accounting standards.
  • Monitoring income and expenditure against budgets using the cost and management accounting principles.
  • Assisting in producing financial and management reports, supporting information and analyses.
  • Assisting in the development of budgets.
  • Using information systems (MS Excel, and MS Word) in day-to-day activities.
  • Experience using ERP will be an advantage.

Remuneration Per Annum (Grade 10)

Basic Pensionable Salary per annum: R330 178

Cost to Company per annum (Approximately): R448 473

All applications will be treated in strict confidence. This post is advertised as a permanent post, but the University may opt to appoint on a fixed-term contract of not less than three years. The University reserves the right not to proceed with the filling of the post. An application in itself does not entitle the applicant to an interview.
