Financial Controller

A fast-growing fintech company that revolutionises payment solutions in the education sector, are looking for a Financial Controller to join their team in Cape Town.

The Financial Controller would report directly to the Financial Manager and will be pivotal in maintaining financial integrity, optimising accounting processes, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and managing audits and tax filings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly, annual, and ad hoc financial reports.
• Maintain accurate financial records in Xero, including daily reconciliations and bank feeds.
• Support financial statement preparation and data integrity across departments.
• Process payments, customer invoices, and statements.
• Manage creditors, receivables, and cash flow optimization.
• Generate and analyze KPI reports in PowerBI.
• Handle treasury tasks, including cash management and reconciliations for Collections and Card units.
• Track and manage exceptions like refunds, chargebacks, and disputes.
• Ensure proper onboarding controls for financial processes.
• Oversee accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
• Ensure IFRS compliance and manage reconciliations.
• Process payroll, including commissions, expenses, and statutory submissions.
• Support external audits and compliance with accounting standards
• Assist in annual budget preparation and resource allocation.
• Update forecasts based on performance and changing business conditions.
• Support FICA and FSCA submissions and risk profiling processes.
• Manage compliance documentation and portals.
• Oversee asset management, including procurement and inventory.
• Manage insurance renewals and fixed asset registers.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Newly qualified CGMA; or Part CGMA, AGA(SA) or PA(SA).
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance.
• 3 to 5 years post-article experience (articles highly preferred).
• Experience using systems such as SimplePay, PowerBI and Syft is
• advantageous.
• Experience using Xero is preferred.
• Strong communicator; reasonably extroverted; team player.
• Strong initiative, and happy to deal with varied tasks as they arise.
• Can legally live and work in South Africa.

Salary:

• R430 000 to R540 000 / year CTC
