Financial Accountant (Insurance)

A world leader in its field of specialization offering a variety of financial products for motor vehicles. Our client is seeking to employ a qualified and experienced Financial Accountant.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic and highly skilled team. The successful candidate will report directly to the Financial Manager.

Key Purpose

The Financial Accountant (Insurance) contributes to the company's goals by providing financial support aligned to the company's strategy.

This role entails an intense focus on the reconciliation of data – attention to detail and accuracy is critical.

Experience & Knowledge Required

1. Matric
2. Prefer B. Com. degree with accounting major or similar
3. Experience in MS Great Plains (GP) and GRID preferable
4. System accounting experience is an advantage
5. Minimum 5 years post-graduation experience

Skills & Attributes Required

1. Super-User / Advanced Microsoft Excel skills compulsory
2. Deadline driven, team player that is reliable and dependable with a positive attitude
3. Attention to detail with analytical insights

Duties / Key Responsibilities

1. Month-End Deliverables (within required deadlines)
2. Preparation of bordereaux and accounting schedules
3. Preparation of cashbook
4. Posting of journals
5. System reconciliations
6. Bank reconciliations
7. Balance sheet reconciliations
8. Underwriter reconciliations
9. Preparation and distribution of management accounts
10. Ensure accounting for the deliverables from other departments within finance: Credit Control, Commissions
11. Attend to ad hoc queries
12. Assist in budget and forecast cycles
13. Attend to multiple internal and external audits throughout the year
14. Assist in the identification of internal control weaknesses and suggest / implement improvements
15. Provide financial analysis and insights in support of business decision-making needs
