The detail-orientated and experienced Financial Accountant will join the local finance team of SCOR SE - Africa Branch on a permanent full-time basis.

The Financial Accountant will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing accurate financial information to support decision-making processes. The Financial Accountant will support the Finance team to ensure compliance with all deadlines.
Some of the key areas of responsibilities will be as follows:
- Local Annual Financial Statements (AFS) for the Branch & Subsidiary
- Assist with supporting calculations and non-technical note disclosures in the AFS
- Complete online iXBRL format for Annual Financial Statements for CIPC submission
- Prepare monthly VAT workings for submission to Tax Authority,
- Preparation of detailed workings for the VAT submission
- Search for supporting documentation/ invoices (DMS) to justify/confirm VAT treatment of specific line items
- Quarterly SARB Submissions (Separate form for life and non-life)
- Preparation of workings for C68 submission as per template required by SARB
- Quarterly & Annual Return Assistance
- Assist with rolling forward QRT template, working files and documentation to ensure smoother process in completing the QRT for the quarter
- Bi-weekly payments (technical & non-technical)
- Enter invoices in SAP for payment
- Prepare payment packs for payments to be made
- Ensure proof of payments are sent to Vendors
- Ensure the accuracy of new vendor account details via telephone calls and obtaining bank confirmation letters from suppliers
- Weekly cash reporting to Group Treasury
- Capturing monthly bank statements on manual bank accounts
- Corporate Credit cards
- Send out Credit Card statements for capture
- Follow up on expenses not captured in Concur before deadline
- Reconciliation of expenses captured to statements received
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations
- Completion of reconciliation for all bank accounts
- Posting clearing journals
- Posting missing entries needed in the GL
- General Ledger Management
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Deregistration of SCOR Africa Limited
- Assist with this process where required and upon instruction
- Ad-hoc administrative activities
- Preparing letters to the Bank, when requested
- Gathering documentation and completion of forms for any applications/notifications to the Prudential Authority
- Assisting with any other forms or questionnaires when received and upon request
- Collaboration
- Work closely with the finance team & other departments to support business initiatives

Required experience & competencies
- Proven experience as a Financial Accountant or similar role
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring high standards of quality in all outputs
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Advanced Excel experience
- SAP Experience will prove beneficial
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively
- Experience in managing multiple tasks/projects simultaneously, with a track record of delivering on time
Required Education
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent qualifications
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CA(SA) preferred)
- Completed articles (preferred)
- Preferably, a few years post articles experience within the Insurance Industry
