Financial Accountant

A South African non-profit organisation, leveraging technology to deliver engaging literacy and numeracy programs in underserved schools, is looking for a Financial Accountant in Johannesburg.

As the financial accountant, you will manage the full accounting cycle, from processing to reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance. With exposure to a variety of financial tasks, this position provides both professional growth and a clear path for progression within a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the entire accounting cycle, from processing transactions to preparing trial balances.
• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with IFRS.
• Perform reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, bank accounts, and intercompany transactions.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Ensure tax compliance, including VAT, income tax, and statutory filings.
• Support audit preparation and liaise with auditors for timely audits.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Continuously improve internal controls and accounting processes.

Qualifications and Experience:

• SAIPA, AGA, or CGMA/CIMA qualification.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of post-article experience in financial accounting or a similar role.
• Experience in supervising 1-2 team members.
• Expertise in financial accounting principles, taxation, and financial reporting.
• Experience working the full accounting cycle.
• High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and excellent communication skills.

Salary:

• R480 000-600 000 CTC per year depending on the candidate.
