Financial Accountant

Objectives of this role

1. Managing and maintaining financial records, including general ledger accounts and financial statements.
2. Reviewing financial documents and transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
3. Performing financial analysis and reporting to support business decisions.
4. Preparing and reviewing annual/quarterly budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
5. Developing and implementing economic policies and procedures in the company.
6. Providing timely financial information to support decision-making processes.
7. Contributing to the overall financial health and stability of the organisation.
8. Leading and developing your team, providing guidance and mentoring.
9. Preparing and presenting statements, such as statement of financial position, statement of profit or loss, and other comprehensive income; statement of cash flow.
10. Bookkeeping to Trial Balance Level.
11. Monthly processes such as entering documents from source and doing relevant journal entries.
12. Maintaining records for audit and tax purposes.
13. Performing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities.
14. Reconciling financial discrepancies by collecting and studying account information.
15. Analysing financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement and providing insights to management for decision-making.
16. Managing treasury payment issues where applicable, including domestic and foreign payments.
17. VAT and PAYE submissions.
18. Collaborating and consulting with stakeholders throughout the enterprise.

Required skills and qualifications

1. A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
2. Professional certification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CA advantageous.
3. 4+ years of experience in accounting or finance.
4. Good technical knowledge in tax and accounting.
5. Strong understanding of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
6. Experience in financial analysis and forecasting.
7. Experience in managing a team.
8. Knowledge of accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, and Sage.
9. Experience in a multinational or cross-cultural work environment.
10. Knowledge of IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
11. Great organisational and time management skills.
12. Experience within the Fintech industry is advantageous.
13. Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).
14. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
15. Attention to detail and accuracy in financial data analysis and reporting.
16. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
17. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
