Job Description
A prominent NPO is looking for a Finance Manager to join the Executive Director's team. The position requires specific skills and experience and a high level of discretion, trustworthiness, and professionalism. The incumbent needs to be energetic, confident, proactive, and passionate about the role. This is an in-office position based in Glenhazel, Sandton.


The Finance Manager will take the lead on all day-to-day finance matters across the organisation and report directly to the Executive Director to ensure all accounting tasks are efficiently and effectively implemented. The position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks at once, and a wide breadth of experience managing accounting responsibilities.


Responsibilities


Financial management
  1. Leadership of the finance function to support all stakeholders and meet their needs
  2. Review and revision of organisational financial policies and procedures from time to time
  3. Annual budget set-up and management across the organisation including all programmes and projects
  4. Review of cost centres and allocation codes and monitoring correct allocation thereof
  5. Monthly collation of all income/payments and allocation codes
  6. Compilation of financial report for donors
  7. Drafting monthly management accounts and reporting to the finance sub-committee on a monthly basis
  8. Ensuring individual projects are within budget
  9. Working with accounting firm and performing general accounting and bookkeeping duties as required

Requirements


Key Competencies
  1. Proven experience of managing and leading financial management and reporting into the Executive Director / CEO
  2. Knowledge of bookkeeping practices
  3. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures
  4. Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements
  5. The candidate should be proficient in Word and Excel
  6. Knowledge of the Xero system or willingness to learn
  7. Team player attitude and the willingness to assist colleagues where necessary

  1. Valid drivers' license and prepared to travel when needed
  2. To demonstrate high efficiency and competency
  3. Ability to work independently
