We are looking for an Advisor – Finance to be responsible for supporting our Exploration Africa operations with timely and accurate financial reports, and analyses, in accordance with IFRS standards and Rio Tinto policies.
Reporting to the Finance Business Partner (Rio Tinto Exploration Africa) and working in a collaborative community within the business, you will be responsible for:
- Managing and partnering with finance service providers to ensure adherence to Rio Tinto standards and principles, implement robust processes, oversee management reports, respective journals, and month-end processes.
- Delivery of financial accounting processes throughout the monthly cycle; review of journals, reconciliations, and working papers prepared by local finance and tax service providers.
- Review and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results for external reporting.
- Ensure correct and accurate reporting of all leases, in line with IFRS16.
- Partner with exploration business leaders during the development of the annual plan and forecasting; ensure accurate capturing and reconciliation of operational plans into planning and finance applications.
- Close partnering with outsource providers to ensure tax compliance and timely submissions of all monthly, annual, and ad-hoc tax returns (including but not limited to corporate tax, VAT and WHT).
- Partner with Closing & Reporting (C&R) and Controllership teams to enhance financial services provided to the business.
- Ensure compliance with adequate internal controls SOX standard and Rio Tinto’s accounting policies.
- Review statutory financials and tax computations.
- Lead & manage the statutory audits.
- Support other internal and external audits.
- Support the Africa – Eurasia Finance Business Partner team to standardize and optimise finance processes.
- Manage requests to/from various stakeholders.
- Review and approve vendor payments.
- Support ad hoc projects or initiatives.
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor and/or professional qualification e.g, ACA, CPA, CIMA
- 2 years + finance, accounting, and tax experience within a global organization
- Experience effectively managing and influencing a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Analytical and strategic forward-thinker
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with the capacity to work autonomously.
- Expertise across a full range of standard business and finance tools (SAP, PowerPoint, Excel, PowerBI, etc.)
- Strong capability to effectively prioritize and possess excellent organizational skills.
