Job description

The main purpose of this position is for the dismantling, inspections, repair, and assembly of steam turbines, compressors, gearboxes, pumps, and auxiliary equipment associated with rotating equipment. (Field Service activities, Workshop activities, Investigation and problem solving, Documentation and liaising with clients)

Duties

  1. Planning.
  2. Receive scope of work from Field Service Coordinator / Administrator.
  3. Check Program. (This is to ensure that the agreed time allocated for the job is correct).
  4. Compile data pack as per scope.
  5. Collect data for project. (Prepare machine information and check sheets).
  6. Prepare tool and consumable register. (Ensure all equipment and consumables are on register).
  7. Collect all calibration certificates, 3 monthly inspections, and test certificates for equipment. (Ensure all inspections are up to date).
  8. Collect required site information. (Job No., Site contact number and name, Accommodation).
  9. Project kick-off meeting. (Meeting to be held with projects and team before mobilizing to site).
  10. Arrival at Site. (Contact office and confirm arrival on site. Contact client and confirm arrival on site).
  11. Follow client procedures for entering site. (Inductions, declaring equipment at security. Ensure 2 copies of lists are stamped by security. Company staff to keep one copy as reference).

Tasks

  1. Installation and overhauling of compressors, turbines, gearboxes, generators, and fans.
  2. Field Service Representatives working on Steam Turbines and related equipment are to follow the appropriate recommendations and requirements given in the OEM manual.
  3. The Turbine Technician will be responsible for the dismantling, inspection, repairs, and assembly of Turbines during outages and overhauls:
  4. Complete tasks as per scope of work and program provided.
  5. Follow work procedures as per tasks given.
  6. Relevant forms and documentation are to be completed and submitted as required.
  7. These reports constitute our only history of the work done on turbines in the field. This applies both to the erection of new turbines and repairs and overhaul of older ones. These reports should be clear and concise. They should contain only facts and all personalities should be eliminated.
  8. Field Service reports should be mailed to the company at least once a week.
  9. In cases of conflict between customer expectations and specific guidelines presented in this manual, the Field Service Representative is to communicate with the company Coordinator for assistance in obtaining a mutually satisfactory resolution.
  10. If any unusual findings occur, this should be reported immediately to the company coordinator and client.
