Job Description: External Sales Representative

Reports to: Managing Director & Sales Manager

Salary: R15 000 - R20 000 basic (DOE) + Comm + Vehicle allowance + Petrol card

Our Client, based in Kempton Park, Johannesburg, is on the hunt for a Technical Sales Representative to join their team.

Job Purpose

A vacancy exists for Experienced Dynamic Sales Representatives to grow sales and manage existing customers in West Rand, Free State, Northern Cape and parts of North West for a well-known manufacturer of abrasives products.

Minimum Requirements
  1. A Technical Qualification and/or 3+ years proven sales experience in a technical field
  2. Preferably from a more technical industry such as manufacturing, engineering or Building or similar
  3. Must have a valid driver’s license
  4. Must be willing to travel
  5. Must reside between the West Rand and the East Rand
Soft Skills Requirement
  1. Excellent Communication Skills, both Verbal and Written
  2. Strong Negotiation Skills
  3. Must be MS Office literate (Intermediate to Advanced)
  4. CRM Management, Call Planning and Sales Reporting
  5. Resilient, resourceful personality/character

  7. Strong business acumen
  8. Entrepreneurial flair with excellent time management
Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities
  1. Manage revenue, profitability, and growth for direct accounts
  2. Resolve channel conflicts and minimize potential issues
  3. Develop processes to track, report, and communicate account performance
  4. Report market trends to Sales and Management
  5. Enter competitor markets and conduct cost-benefit analyses
  6. Cold call new customers and focus on existing ones
  7. Analyze market potential and track sales performance
  8. Meet or exceed sales targets and build positive customer relationships
  9. Adhere to company policies and maintain integrity
  10. Service and develop the existing customer base
  11. Represent the company at trade shows and conduct product demos
  12. Comply with planning, reporting, and customer management guidelines
  13. Maintain and grow customer accounts with internal support
  14. Ensure customer satisfaction and handle after-sales care
  15. Deliver internal and customer presentations
  16. Liaise with the office for client proposals and follow-ups
  17. Attend sales meetings and one-on-ones with the Sales Manager
  18. Seek new opportunities in the region and communicate feedback to the Sales Manager
  19. Coordinate with staff to close sales and provide weekly updates on lost sales and back orders
  20. Submit monthly call planners and update CRM daily
  21. Provide an annual sales plan including past sales, projections, and target customers
  22. Perform other assigned duties as needed
