We have an exciting opportunity for Executive Director/ Vice President - Clinical Operations for LATAM region. As part of the global Clinical Operations leadership team, this position will set the vision and strategy for the region ensuring alignment with global direction, influencing strategic decisions, and playing a leading role in the evolution of clinical delivery.

Taking an active role in the ongoing clinical delivery transformation, the job holder will be involved in driving the direction for the business and actively contributing to the growth of the region and operations. The role provides leadership, decision making, influence and management across the clinical operations team for the region made up of México, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, and Perú, working in close collaboration with the leads of other regions delivering excellence in clinical output within project parameters of time, quality, and cost.
Ideally based in one of the country locations, you will oversee clinical deliverables cross-functionally and will provide advanced functional expertise and insights from both strategic and operational perspectives to contribute to the continuous development of operational processes to strengthen business delivery.
As a region lead, you will be responsible for developing best practices and strategies based on global, regional, country and site intelligence and knowledge with a focus on deliverables and oversight of the successful completion of clinical trials for the region.
Essential functions:
- Drives the regional operational delivery team to successfully deliver study start-up, monitoring and site management with a seamless transition between all phases of a study and with an end-to-end approach while proactively supporting change management.
- Collaborates with leadership from all functional areas, providing advanced global and local expertise to contribute to further development of operational practices.
- Leads regional performance review meetings and facilitates meetings to identify potential risks and work with the clinical team to develop and communicate contingency plans. Ensures risks, at regional level, to overall study deliverables and potential solutions are effectively communicated.
- Provides direct supervision, support, training and mentoring to direct reports and oversees clinical deliverables cross-functionally within the region.
- Oversees capacity management at regional level to identify risks and implement mitigation plans.
- Provides oversight and direction to People Management team within region to optimize retention including talent management, training, career development and succession planning.
- Manages the overall budgeting activity of the assigned region - annual and long-range forecast.
- Leads or participates in regional/global and/or cross-functional initiatives and process improvement projects.
- Acts as Subject Matter Expert at regional level for business processes and systems, local regulations and clinical practices and collaborates with key stakeholders and leadership across multiple departments on the continuous development and improvement.
- Assists in business development by developing strategies based on regional, country and site intelligence.
- Provision of expertise for client presentations and proposal development at local level as well as participation and representation of the company in country initiatives like CROs forums and/or clinical research associations.
- Identification of opportunities to maximize and expand the business in the region.
Job Qualification:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in a science-related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the individual with the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- A demonstrated track record of success in clinical development area (equivalent to 12+ years) and experience in all phases of study life cycle, including start-up, interim maintenance and close out.
- Line management experience (equivalent of 10+ years) appropriate to the size and complexity of the clinical operations group.
- Knowledge and understanding of clinical operations regulatory guidelines and directives for the region.
- Proven track record for developing and training staff.
