Responsibilities

  1. Managing specialised driven events to revenue and grow brand awareness
  2. Managing and planning events from concept to execution for all specialised events, as well as providing assistance for planning media/marketing events
  3. Manage 3rd party suppliers in certain instances/when required
  4. Network with suppliers to ascertain their requirements per event
  5. Build and maintain good relationships with Programming, Forbes Africa and Marketing, and the Bureaus
  6. Build relationships by leveraging off the Sales team and Sales Support
  7. Researching the most effective and creative way to carry out the event
  8. Creating out-of-the-box and original events that demonstrate ABN Event Productions core concepts
  9. Assist with the compiling of proposals for events, which may include timings, venues, suppliers, legal obligations and budgets
  10. Assist with the management of event spending to ensure costs do not exceed the budget
  11. Identify the target audience for sales in conjunction with the sales team
  12. Meet with the organiser/sponsors ensuring that the planning of the event is done within agreed time constraints
  13. Identify, negotiate and manage significant strategic partnerships, alliances and relationships that support ABN's current and emerging directions
  14. Ensure all event contractual obligations are met
  15. Ensure that insurance, legal and health and safety obligations are followed
  16. Managing the operational activities of the event coordinators
  17. Carry out any other function or duty as directed by the Head and GM of Events

Skills

  1. Problem-solving and management through stressful situations
  2. Project management, timelines, and task management
  3. Registration and communications best practices (experience with event registration platforms)
  4. Facilities management, audio-visual, room layouts and design
  5. Production, staging, and on-site execution
  6. Menu planning and design
  7. Vendor sourcing and management
  8. Contracting, negotiations, and compliance
  9. Risk assessment and management (emergency planning)
  10. Evaluations, reporting and analysis
  11. Leadership and strong interpersonal skills
  12. Written and oral communications skills
  13. Working knowledge of MS Office
  14. Understanding of social media in event settings

Time Commitment

Full time; travel will be included; long days and some weekends are expected.
