Job Specification: Tender Clerk / Junior Estimator Civil Construction (Paarl)
Position Overview A prominent civil construction company based in Paarl is seeking a dedicated Tender Clerk/Junior Estimator to join their team. This role involves supporting tendering, administrative processes, and effective communication with stakeholders. The ideal candidate will exhibit exceptional organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to thrive under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
A. Tender Administration
Request and follow up on quotes and revised quotes to ensure timely responses.
Prepare and manage bulk material orders.
Assist the Estimator with kick-off and monthly cost meetings.
Analyze material prices during the tender stage to ensure accuracy and cost-efficiency.
Obtain Tax Clearance Certificates from SARS.
Request way leaves and other necessary permits.
Conduct price comparisons for supplier quotes.
Compile and submit tender documents, ensuring completeness and adherence to deadlines.
Handle CIDB grading applications and renewals.
Request guarantees and confirm project insurance coverage.
B. Correspondence
Draft and send letters to engineers, suppliers, and clients as directed.
Serve as the primary liaison between suppliers, clients, and engineers, ensuring clear communication.
C. General Administration
Organize and maintain tender files and related documentation.
Draft memos and handle general correspondence as required.
Perform filing and document collection tasks.
Provide administrative support as a Personal Assistant to the Estimator and Managing Director.
D. Other Responsibilities
Undertake additional tasks or assignments that align with the employee's skills and role requirements.
Qualifications
Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying.
Valid driver's license.
Experience
3 to 5 years of administrative experience, preferably in the construction or civil engineering industry.
