Estimator Boiler Construction

Top engineering firm seeks boiler construction estimator. Estimate boiler parts and labour pricing for boiler construction and refurbishment.

Must have 3 -5 years experience specifically constructing and maintaining boilers. Very strong preference for a qualified boilermaker or equivalent experience. In depth knowledge of the components in boilers (pref: water tube boilers). Experience in leading and preparing bids and tenders (pref 2+ years). Excellent planning and coordination skills.

What the person must be able to do:

This role is in the South African industrial sector. All duties would take place in this context.

1. Estimation of new boiler designs and refurbishments:
1. Read and understand technical drawings
2. Create Pricing Libraries
3. Create and Price Bills of Quantities
4. Labour and Resource Estimation
5. Construction Time Estimation
6. Manage Margins
7. Manage Subcontractors, Request for Quotes, Work Completion and Quality
8. Use estimating software such as Candy Estimating
9. Lead and prepare bids and tenders

Key Job Deliverables (First 6-12 Months):

1. Import significant company IP into new Estimating system
2. Take a leading role in new tenders and bid for new projects

Background work experience:

1. 3-5 years experience in specifically constructing and maintaining boilers or equivalent
2. Very strong preference for a qualified boilermaker
3. Strong preference for experience in water tube boilers
4. BSc, BEng, T4, BTech or S4 in Mechanical Engineering
5. Proven track record in boiler construction and maintenance (we will check references)
6. 2+ years experience in boiler estimating and bid completion or closely equivalent
7. Project management experience strongly advantageous
8. Strong interpersonal skills and team player

Location: Johannesburg East Rand
Salary: Market Related. In the Range of R40K to R48K per month. Highly exceptional more senior candidates may be considered.
