Job Summary :

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team in the mining equipment industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of heavy diesel-powered mining equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety. This role demands a high level of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and efficiency in challenging mining environments.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Equipment Maintenance and Repair :
   Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel-powered mining equipment, including haul trucks, loaders, excavators, dozers, and other heavy machinery.
   Inspect and test equipment for operational reliability, ensuring safety and performance standards are met.
2. Troubleshooting and Diagnostics :
   Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and software to identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
   Analyze fault codes and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
3. Parts Replacement and Rebuilding :
   Replace or repair defective parts, components, or systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and hydraulics.
   Rebuild and overhaul major components to factory specifications.
4. Safety and Compliance :
   Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with mining industry regulations.
   Conduct safety inspections and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities.
5. Documentation and Reporting :
   Maintain detailed service and repair logs.
   Report equipment performance issues to management and suggest improvements.

Qualifications and Skills :

1. Education and Certification :
   High school diploma or equivalent.
   Certification in Diesel Mechanics or Heavy Equipment Maintenance preferred.
   Valid driver’s license; Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is an advantage.
2. Experience :
   Minimum of 3 years of experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably in the mining or heavy equipment industry.
   Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.
3. Technical Skills :
   Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, hydraulics, and electrical circuits.
   Proficiency with diagnostic tools and software.
   Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
4. Soft Skills :
   Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
   Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
   Ability to work in challenging and remote mining environments.

Working Conditions :

1. Work in a variety of environments, including outdoor mining sites and repair workshops.
2. Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in physically demanding conditions.
3. Availability for shift work, including nights, weekends, and on-call duties as required.
