Our client in the global professional services industry is seeking an experienced Engineer / Solution Architect or similar with industrial plant expertise preferably in mining who can apply their knowledge to improve project deliverables across the project life cycle in a high-performing team ultimately culminating in a quality end-state deployment.
The types of projects are both infrastructure and application-based requiring exposure and a fundamental understanding across all information technology domains.
The role is a mix of consulting and advisory requiring the review and evaluation of documentation from project inception to closure after deployment.
This involves interaction with Project Managers, Business Analysts, and Solution Architects to assess the outputs from these team members against industry knowledge and published internal standards.
The role also includes onsite assessments of projects to ensure alignment with the same standards, agreed designs, and contracted deliverables guaranteeing that the company receives what is expected.
What you will do:
- Assess business requirements and provide input or guidance to the business analyst team.
- Understand the content and application of standards for projects advising on additional standards based on industry experience.
- Apply critical thinking to evaluate the impact of projects on existing solutions and other in-progress initiatives.
- Identify interdependencies and opportunities for reuse across various projects.
- Investigate and update existing standards to address gaps or outdated information.
- Conduct on-location assessments of projects.
- Create detailed reports outlining findings and remediation actions.
- Collaborate with project managers to align on project goals.
- Ensure high-quality project delivery to minimize rework and maximize efficiency.
- Identify and implement best practices considering life-of-mine maintenance methods and minimizing wastage in overlapping projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or honours in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Informatics and/or 10 years of experience in related subject matter areas.
- Enterprise Architecture certifications: TOGAF 9 or 10.
- Experience in design and maintenance within mining/industrial plants or at an industrial OEM.
- Willingness to travel.
- Proven exposure to complex projects.
- High proficiency in English; proficiency in French is a plus.
- Demonstrated leadership, ownership skills, and self-management in fast-paced project environments.
- Mining and/or industrial plant projects and processes.
- Knowledge of IT/OT convergence in terms of the Purdue model.
- Understanding of sensor-to-cloud data flow and considerations.
- Expertise in cyber security.
- Familiarity with industrial control system architecture.
- Experience with data centre design (servers, storage, switching, firewalls, virtual machines, etc.).
- Knowledge of hosting facilities design (UPS, cooling, access control, CCTV, etc.).
- Understanding of data backup and recovery methods.
- Proficiency in industrial networks.
- Familiarity with mining applications Pit to Customer.
- Experience in data management from creation to reporting and visualization.
- Additional experience in voice and data networks, mine monitoring and control, CCTV, and access control.
- Additional experience in integration services, WiFi networks, and WAN.
- Additional experience in servers and storage, voice, mobile and radio communication, and survey geotech and lightning protection.
