An Engineering Storeman is responsible for managing and maintaining the inventory of engineering and maintenance-related materials, tools, and equipment within a workshop or industrial environment. They ensure that necessary supplies are available for production and maintenance teams while keeping accurate records of stock levels and usage.
Responsibilities:
Inventory Management: Maintain stock levels of engineering components, spare parts, and tools. (Requisition)
Stock Control: Monitor stock movement, conduct regular stock checks, and update inventory records.
Goods Receiving & Dispatching: Receive and inspect incoming deliveries, check for discrepancies, and store items appropriately. (GRN)
Issuing Materials: Distribute tools, spare parts, and equipment to engineers, technicians, or maintenance teams as needed.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate documentation of stock levels, purchase orders, and issued items using computerized inventory systems (ERP e.g. SAP)
Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure proper storage of hazardous materials and adherence to safety regulations.
Supplier Coordination: Work with procurement buyer and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of required materials.
Housekeeping & Organization: Keep the store clean, organized, and compliant with workplace regulations.
Requirements:
Grade 12 or N3
Previous experience in a warehouse, storekeeping, or engineering environment
Knowledge of mechanical/electrical components is required
Computer literate (MS Word, Excel, ERP)
Valid driver license
