Electronics Technician

Job Title: Electronics Technician

Applications are invited for the Electronics Technician position to be based at our Gqeberha Manufacturing site. This person will report to the Engineering Manager.

Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:

1. Maintain electronic process control systems hardware and software.
2. Ensure that installation of new process control systems is done according to company standards.
3. Maintain field hardware loop checks / calibration, etc.
4. Review process control philosophies and recommend optimisation.
5. Audit process control programmes regularly and ensure that changes that are made are carried out according to ISO procedure.
6. Ensure the necessary documentation is done: installation drawings, P&IDs, Loop identification, Field and termination tagging, etc.
7. Coordinate (program) individual machine output to optimise overall line performance.
8. Ensure proper access control to electronic system.
9. Fault finding and maintaining electronic equipment.
10. Ensure current backup for electronic systems on the designated server location.
11. Actively participate in Minibuses Operating System activities.
12. Perform all relevant administrative functions.
13. Train/coach Production controllers, Artisans, Machine controllers, and operators.
14. Assist the Artisans and Production controllers with their tasks.
15. Achieve production requirements against target.
16. Asset optimization.
17. Fault finding and maintaining electronic equipment.
18. Optimizing electronic equipment.
19. PLC programming.
20. Achieve service quality according to Quality Management system ratings Workplace improvement.
21. Implement initiatives of the business plans.
22. Administrative duties.
23. Supervising people.
24. Conduct proper Root Cause Analysis.

The successful candidate must have the following experience/skills:

1. N4-N5 equivalent Electrical/Electronic qualification (NQF 5). Electrician/Electronic technician trade should be the equivalent to a N5.
2. 3 years in manufacturing environment / 2 years in Siemens software programming.
3. Various PLC experience including Siemens S5 and S7.
4. Ability to assist Production Controllers with problem solving on the production machines and equipment.
5. Knowledge and experience of effective housekeeping principles and health and safety standards.
6. Problem-solving abilities.
7. Leadership capabilities and able to function in a team environment as well as being a self-starter.
