We are seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical Technician / Automation Technician to join our team in the textile manufacturing sector. The role is heavily focused on fault finding and maintenance of electrical systems, as well as automation and PLC programming. The successful candidate will ensure the smooth operation of the plants' electrical equipment and systems, particularly capital equipment, PLCs, and safety circuits. This is a hands-on position with the potential to grow into a supervisory role over time.
Diagnose and resolve electrical faults in capital equipment and plant machinery, minimizing downtime. Identify and repair issues with PLCs (S5, S7, Omron - Ladder Diagram) and other automation systems. Work with remote suppliers to troubleshoot equipment linked via internet connections.
Write and modify simple programs for PLCs (Siemens S5, S7, and Omron) to improve plant performance. Monitor and maintain sensors, drives, and control systems.
Handle higher-level electrical tasks, including generators, smart switching, and safety circuits. Maintain and troubleshoot plant installations under GMR2 regulations. Inspect, maintain, and repair electrical systems, including safety relays and circuits.
Oversee installation, commissioning, and maintenance of capital equipment and automation systems. Ensure that all automation systems are fully operational, regularly tested, and safe for use.
Provide technical support and guidance to junior technicians and maintenance staff. Participate in decision-making regarding electrical maintenance projects and upgrades. Assist in coordinating plant maintenance schedules and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Ensure all electrical work complies with local electrical codes and safety regulations. Participate in plant safety inspections and risk assessments, focusing on electrical hazards. Maintain accurate documentation of electrical systems, modifications, and repairs.
Education: National Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an electrical technician role, preferably in textile manufacturing or a similar industry. Strong experience in fault finding, particularly with PLCs (Siemens S5, S7, Omron). Hands-on experience with generators, smart switching, sensors, drives, and safety circuits.
