Job description

Main job function

  • Perform and supervise all kinds of electrical works during the construction of renewable power plants (photovoltaic, biomass, geothermal, hydro, wind);
  • Ensure the plant construction work is performed in accordance with erection schedules and project documents, Quality & Safety procedures, and the terms and conditions of the contract;
  • Secure the electrical works implementation of contractual obligations;
  • Detect possible electrical quality problems prior to or during the works and proceed in problem solving by coordinating with site;
  • Monitor equipment and manpower employed by the subcontractor; ensure equipment and manpower are adequate and the subcontractor work performed conforms to design documents;
  • Ensure that construction is being implemented in accordance with the design documents;
  • Review and reconcile Quality Control (QC) documents and field data to ensure design standards are being met;
  • Observe and report findings of daily site mechanical activities from subcontractors; raise Field Observation Reports for deficiencies when required;
  • Create reports to monitor and track electrical activities relating to project schedule through daily and weekly plans, logs;
  • Provide input based on lessons learned to the construction team for use in contractor and vendor contract negotiations including pre-bid and pre-construction;
  • Ad hoc requests as reasonably related to the role.

Qualification:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent experience in supervising large utility scale power generation construction projects;
  • At least 5 years’ experience in electrical site supervision or a similar technical role in Engineering or Construction Companies.
  • Knowledge of the grid code of South Africa;
  • Experience in the construction of HV/MV;
  • Experience with international companies will be considered preferential;
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 100% of the time including temporary assignments;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and the local language.

R800 – R850 PER ANNUM
