Job description

Electrical Engineer position available in Chintsa, Eastern Cape.

Looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to oversee the electrical design, installation, and compliance aspects of the construction of RDP houses and clinics in Chintsa, Eastern Cape.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all electrical systems are designed and implemented according to public sector standards, regulations, and project requirements.

Salary: R30 000 – R35 000 CTC per month (Negotiable).

3-Year Fixed Term Contract.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 6 years of experience working on public sector buildings and infrastructure delivery projects.
  3. Registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer or Professional Engineering Technologist.
  4. Strong knowledge of electrical design, power distribution, lighting systems, and compliance standards.
  5. Experience with municipal and national electrical regulations and energy efficiency standards.
  6. Proficiency in electrical design software and project management tools.
  7. Ability to work with engineers, contractors, and project managers to integrate electrical systems within the broader infrastructure project.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Design, develop, and oversee the electrical systems for RDP houses and clinics.
  2. Ensure compliance with ECSA regulations, SANS electrical codes, and municipal requirements.
  3. Conduct load calculations, power distribution planning, and energy efficiency assessments.
  4. Review and approve electrical engineering plans, drawings, and technical specifications.
  5. Work closely with civil and structural engineers, architects, and contractors to ensure proper integration of electrical components.
  6. Monitor installation processes, testing, and commissioning to ensure quality and compliance.
  7. Conduct site inspections and audits to verify adherence to electrical standards.
  8. Provide technical reports, progress updates, and risk assessments for stakeholders.
