Job Purpose : Premier FMCG is seeking a highly skilled Junior Legal Counsel with 1 to 3 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) to provide expert legal advice, ensure regulatory compliance, manage contractual matters, and mitigate legal risks.
This role requires a strategic thinker with strong negotiation and communication skills to safeguard Premier's interests while supporting business growth.
Adept at managing legal risks and ensuring the company's operations adhere to applicable laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities :
Provide strategic legal advice across business divisions, including commercial contracts, property, and employment law.
Ensure compliance with local and international regulations, including food safety, consumer protection, and environmental laws.
Keep abreast of legal and industry developments to proactively manage risks.
Draft, review, and negotiate agreements with suppliers, distributors, and stakeholders to ensure favorable terms.
Assist in structuring contracts to mitigate legal risks and optimize business outcomes.
Manage and resolve disputes through negotiations, arbitrations, and legal proceedings.
Liaise with external legal advisors when necessary and oversee litigation strategies.
Support due diligence processes in new acquisitions and post-integration legal requirements.
Assist in policy development and implementation across business units.
Liaise with regulators such as Consumer Commission, Competition Commission, and CIPC to ensure the company's interests are protected.
Participate in monthly/quarterly business division meetings, providing researched and spontaneous legal advice.
