Tyre & Mechanical Assistant

Purpose of the Job

Assist with all mechanical repairs, services, and tyre maintenance. Conduct vehicle tyre surveys with corrective actions and attend to roadside breakdowns. Ensure that vehicles are washed and cleaned before they leave the depot.

Key Responsibilities

General tyre duties

1. Strip and fit tyres
2. Maintain tyre pressures
3. Clean workshop & tyre bay tools
4. Drive to site and attend to breakdowns, mechanical & tyre breakdowns
5. Do tyre surveys
6. Ensure smooth tyres are changed
7. Complete tyre change slips
8. Ensure that wheel nuts are torqued
9. Maintain tyre stock

General workshop assistance duties

1. Assist with mechanical repairs, services, maintenance, and breakdowns
2. Assist in all workshop-related functions
3. Complete job card service schedules and parts listing as required
4. Assist with controlling spare parts and tyre stock
5. Housekeeping workshop, parts, tyre stores, and washbay
6. Assist in relevant operations/operational functions as required

Washbay duties

1. Ensure that vehicles are washed and cleaned
2. Ensure the dress code is in accordance with company Standard Operating Procedures
3. Maintain housekeeping standards on a daily basis
4. Ensure standards of Health and Safety are maintained

Minimum Requirements

1. Grade 12 (Matric)
2. Mechanical & tyre experience

Skills Required

1. Able to apply basic Health and Safety procedures relevant to own work functions under direct supervision
2. Able to identify hazards and handle them with direct instructions/guidance in place
