Job Description

We are looking for a Finance Analyst to assess and implement financial metadata as it relates to accounting policies and data management practices. The role will be predominantly project/change control related and involves working closely with Business Intelligence Business Analysts and Business Owners to draft appropriate requirements for solution development to provide additional accounting/reporting insights in the project space where required.

The role requires a background in technical IFRS accounting, data governance, and data analysis. The ideal candidate should be analytical, possess strong problem-solving skills, be accountable for driving delivery, and collaborate effectively with others to meet deliverables. The focus will be on projects in the migration, integration, and optimization space, where knowledge of the reporting process and an assessment-oriented mind is critical.

Duties

A. Technical accounting

  • Advanced understanding of IFRS standards.
  • Cost allocations experience is advantageous.
  • Experience in the financial services industry is advantageous.
  • Understanding of Meta, Master, Reference, Accounting, Tax & Finance Allocations data.
  • Exposure to the IFRS reporting process.
  • Ability to question current processes, reporting methods, or ways of doing things and propose the best solutions and/or improvements.

B. Data Management and Analysis

  • Data Governance: Implement and maintain data governance policies to ensure data integrity and compliance.
  • Data Quality Assurance: Monitor and improve the quality of financial data.
  • Data Integration: Oversee the integration of financial data from various sources into a unified system.
  • Data Analysis: Perform detailed data analysis to support financial reporting and decision-making.
  • Metadata Management: Manage financial metadata to ensure consistency and accuracy across systems.

C. Stakeholder management

  • Providing support to IT developers and business stakeholders regarding the build and delivery of relevant projects.
  • Collaborate with Business Intelligence Analysts to translate business requirements into technical specifications.

D. Personal effectiveness

  • Accountable for service delivery through own efforts.
  • Individually accountable for managing own time, tasks, and output quality over periods of 1 day to a maximum of three months.
  • Makes increased contributions by broadening individual skills.
  • Collaborates effectively with others to achieve goals.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

E. Other

  • Gains business and system knowledge and keeps abreast of new developments.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis to improve financial processes and reporting.

Requirements
  • BCom Finance Honours.
  • Experience with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in the Financial Services sector.
  • Experience with Oracle Financials and Hyperion Financial Management is advantageous.
  • At least 4 years' relevant post-qualification experience.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel and Word skills (Advanced Excel skills advantageous).
