St John’s D.S.G., established in 1897 by the Society of St John the Divine, is situated in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. It is a leading Anglican, independent, day and boarding school for 600 girls (Grades RR – 12), and is a member of the Independent Schools’ Association of Southern Africa.

TO QUALIFY TO JOIN OUR SCHOOL TEAM AS AN AFRIKAANS TEACHER YOU WOULD:

  • Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience teaching Afrikaans (Grades 4 to 12) in a similar school environment to St John’s D.S.G., preferably with IEB experience and conversant in IEB SAGS and CAPS.
  • Have a Bachelor of Education, or a similar 4-year Senior / FET qualification in Afrikaans, with PGCE.
  • Be warm, engaging, resilient, honest, genuine, empathetic and kind.
  • Have excellent teamwork, communication and collaboration skills.
  • Have strong values that align to the Christian ethos of the school.
  • Be completely fluent in English.
  • Have a high level of computer competency and be willing to learn new systems.
  • Have a clear criminal clearance certificate.
  • Be SACE registered.
