Overview:

An established Logistics company, within the Automotive Manufacturing sector, seeks an Operations Manager to oversee their East London site.The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and motivating all staff, ensuring a high-quality standard, on-time delivery, and achievement of targets.The position reports to the Technical Services Manager.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Matric/Grade 12
  2. Experience in Operations, Production, Project, or General Management
  3. 3+ years working experience in the same or similar position
  4. Ability to effectively communicate at all levels (internal and external customers)
  5. Proven record of planning and executing projects
  6. Effective management and utilization of resources, 50+ employees in a unionized environment
  7. Must have sound computer knowledge and applications at an advance level (Full MS Office Suite)

Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for overseeing the CMS Operation:
    1. Manage the relationship with the Client whilst maintaining profitability and productivity
    2. Completion of the full billing process ensuring accuracy and completeness
    3. Plan, implement and monitor annual budgets, scheduling expenditures, analysing, and reporting on variances and taking appropriate corrective actions to compensate for variances.
    4. Management of financial and administrative requirements
    5. Ensure Standard Operating Procedures as well as KPI measures are developed, implemented, and monitored
    6. Ensure targets are met in accordance with customer scope
    7. Ensure operations adhere to SHEQ and ISO standards, 5S and Gemba principles as high priority
    8. Ensure Operations strive to fulfil BBBEE such as procurement and recruitment objectives
    9. Manage Workshop (and in-plant areas), Equipment & Storage Yard maintenance
  2. Promoting customer relations:
    1. Maintain good relationships with external and internal customers and handle any customer complaints
    2. Ensuring the Debtors Aging is kept current and escalating
    3. Promote interdepartmental cooperation and synergies
    4. Participate in daily morning meetings at Plant level with customer management
    5. Review quality as per standard operating procedure
    6. Develop, implement, and monitor guidelines for customer satisfaction
    7. Support Contracts Manager to grow Operational & Technical Portfolio, to find new business and spot opportunities
  3. Manage all productive staff effectively and efficiently:
    1. Plan and adjust staff workloads and allocate daily tasks to team members
    2. Provide advice, coordination, and support to team members
    3. Ensure all operations staff adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and safety protocols
    4. Ensure all staff are adequately trained in terms of their duties and per legal requirements
    5. Utilize the Performance Management system to ensure all staff are appraised on performance and given sufficient training, coaching, and mentoring where applicable
    6. Ensure all new staff are properly inducted on all policies and procedures
    7. Ensure all department employees’ time keeping and attendance adherence
    8. Ensure corrective action is taken on employees who do not comply with policies and procedures of the company
    9. Foster a team environment of inclusivity and transparency

Additional Duties:

  1. Ensure the department adheres to ISO 9001 Quality Processes and standards
  2. Ensure the department adheres to ISO 14001 Environmental Processes and standards
  3. Ensure the department adheres to ISO 18001 Health and Safety standards
  4. Ethical approach to safety and compliance

Competencies / Skills:

  1. Strong leadership skills
  2. Able to effectively manage projects and relevant staff
  3. Able to work in a highly deadline-driven and pressurised environment
