Oxford Economics Africa is a majority-owned subsidiary of Oxford Economics, that specialises in political and macroeconomic research in Africa. Our office is based in Paarl and we offer a hybrid working environment.

We are looking for a strong Editor and Proofreader to join our current editing team which consists of two people. The main function of this role is to edit and proofread the reports that our analysts produce, ensuring the quality of the finished product is of the highest standard.

You will need between 5 - 10 years experience of editing and proofreading in a small to medium size business environment, and a Bachelor's degree in either Economics or English.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit and proofread various economic and political reports (daily, monthly, quarterly, ad hoc).
  • Edit and proofread other ad hoc reports.
  • Upskilling of analysts by providing feedback on their reports.
  • Checking the content of tables and charts against the captions and the text.
  • Style and writing guide alignment and updates (if required).
  • Write standard operating procedures.
  • Work closely with the Lead Economist & Editor on any other ad hoc requests and duties falling within the incumbent’s capabilities as required from time to time.

  • Economic background with Economics III and English III (recommended)
