Job Overview

Leap29 is assisting a leading renewables investment firm specializing in clean energy markets. They are seeking a Financial Analyst to join their team in Cape Town. This role involves financial modeling, market research, investment analysis, and deal execution within a dynamic, Pan-African investment environment. The analyst will work closely with regional teams, industry partners, and stakeholders to support high-quality investment decisions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Conduct market research and identify potential investment opportunities.
2. Build and maintain financial models and valuations in MS Excel for project finance and growth equity deals.
3. Assist in the negotiation, execution, monitoring, and exit of portfolio investments.
4. Prepare investment reports, deal papers, and presentations.
5. Work with large datasets to generate insights for investment decision-making.
6. Collaborate with the investment team on strategic direction and market positioning.
7. Continuously develop expertise in renewable energy, infrastructure, and resource efficiency investments.

Required Skills & Experience

1. 3-5 years of experience in financial analysis, valuations, project finance, or private equity.
2. Advanced financial modeling and valuation skills in Excel.
3. Strong understanding of renewable energy infrastructure, growth equity, or expansion capital investments.
4. Experience with investment documentation, deal structuring, and risk assessment.
5. Postgraduate degree (MBA, CFA, CA, or Master’s in Finance or similar).
6. Excellent communication and presentation skills in English (French is a plus).
7. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and contribute to a high-performance team.
8. Willingness to travel internationally for deal execution and investor meetings.

Technical Skills

1. Proficiency in financial modeling, data analysis, and valuation methodologies.
2. Strong experience in Excel (macros, VBA preferred), PowerPoint, and MS Word.
3. Knowledge of accounting treatment, tax considerations, and project finance.
4. Ability to extract, manage, and visualize financial data effectively.
