Procurement Manager

Primary Responsibilities

1. Source raw and packaging materials according to specifications set by QA.
2. Negotiate prices with suppliers to ensure the best possible costs utilizing RFQs and category plans.
3. Manage supplier issues and queries to ensure they are appropriately resolved and build supplier relationships.
4. Ensure supplier relationships are maintained to obtain optimum service levels.
5. Liaise with all internal stakeholders regarding any issues which delay stock delivery.
6. Procure all required packaging materials and raw materials from approved vendors.
7. Raise orders in line with planned production for Isando and disseminate to the suppliers.
8. Circulate orders for required signatures prior to release.
9. Ensure orders are delivered on time and to the correct location via follow-ups with suppliers.
10. Act as a point of contact between the company and suppliers.
11. Identify potential suppliers based on project requirements.
12. Negotiate contracts, terms, and deadlines with vendors and suppliers.
13. Manage an efficient flow of goods to ensure optimum production.
14. Process purchase orders to acquire goods.
15. Work closely with the legal department to ensure contract terms are favorable to the company.
16. Attend meetings with the legal team, engineering team, vendors, and suppliers.
17. Communicate any API/IPI issues regarding supply interruption or cessation to R.A. and all other stakeholders.
18. Liaise with all internal stakeholders regarding any disruptions in the supply of materials.
19. Evaluate spending operations while seeking ways to improve and enhance the quality of products purchased and the timeliness of deliveries.
20. Keep suppliers informed of any changes required and ensure adherence to them.
21. Investigate technology improvements for suitability in the plant.
22. Ensure stocks are delivered where and when required on time in full (OTIF).
23. Develop strategies to ensure that cost savings and supplier performance targets are met.
24. Source new suppliers where necessary to increase competition and negotiation leverage.
25. Manage monthly expenditures and track against budget, implementing cost-saving initiatives.
26. Monitor and update relevant departments regarding price fluctuations of goods and vendor pricing.
27. Ensure that health and safety standards are maintained at all times.
28. Be responsible for all procurement-related projects related to cost-effective purchases, ensuring the company’s quality control processes are maintained.
29. The deputy will assist in the absence of the Procurement Manager with the day-to-day management of procurement activities conducted for the plant.

Minimum Requirements

1. Relevant Degree in Supply Chain, Procurement or Equivalent.
2. Minimum 5 - 7 years’ relevant experience within the pharmaceutical industry, of which 4 years must be in a management position.
3. Knowledge of planning, scheduling, and production activities.
4. Completed ADR training on Best Purchasing Practices.
5. IPSA – Packaging Technology.
