Full job description

A Restaurant in Linden has a waiter/waitress position.

Job Summary

The Waiter is the first contact with our guests when entering the Restaurant. He/she must be able to welcome our customers with a smile and make sure they are happy at all times when dining. The waiter’s duty is to escort customers to assigned dining areas. The waiter must study the Menu and be familiar with the dishes that are on the menu. He/she must be able to take meal orders and beverages from customers and place them in the kitchen. The waiter must be available to work within our operating hours (e.g., evenings, public holidays, and weekends). The waiter has to be able to stand and walk during shifts. Above all, the waiter must be able to provide excellent customer service and a pleasant dining experience to our customers.

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Setting up tables with correct cutlery and utensils
2. Make sure the dining area is clean and neatly set up
3. Greet customers and hand out menus
4. Take meal orders and beverage orders from customers and place these orders to the kitchen
5. Study the Menu and be familiar with the dishes and beverages on it
6. Make Menu Recommendations and inform customers of any specials
7. Monitor the entire dining area and bar
8. Coordinate to carry plates or trays without dropping anything
9. Prepare the bill for tables when requested
10. Make sure the correct amount has been paid
11. Check with customers if they are satisfied with their meals
12. A waiter must have reliable commute or plan to relocate before starting work (Required)

4. Ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with difficult customers
5. Ability to work under pressure
6. Excellent communication skills via phone and in person
7. Ability to stand and walk long hours in your shift

Requirements

1. Minimum Educational Level: Grade 12 or Equivalent
2. Certificate in Hospitality (Added advantage)
3. Minimum of +/- 2 years’ experience working as a waiter
