Accountant - Hospitality

The role will be responsible for the accounting function of various companies within the hospitality division. The division consists of various luxury boutique hotels and guest houses in the Western and Eastern Cape, as well as the Bahamas. The role will report into the accountant in charge of the division.

You will be part of a compact team accounting for the division's finances, with your main responsibility to handle individual company accounts, preparation of management accounts, and financial analysis and reporting.

Your Value To The Group Will Include:

1. Preparation of individual company accounts from source documents to management accounts
2. Regular VAT returns and year-end reconciliation
3. Invoicing and billing
4. Reconciliation of bank accounts and general ledger accounts
5. Resolution of un-reconciled items and non-standard transaction treatment
6. Preparation of punctual and meaningful reports across business lines
7. Assistance with preparation of annual budgets and business plans
8. Implementation of systems, processes, and controls
9. Analysis of monthly and quarterly accounts for reporting processes
10. Maintenance of control schedules across group accounts
11. Assisting with annual audits and liaison with external auditors
12. And related tasks from time to time

1. Accounting degree
2. Preference will be given to professional qualifications in the financial field (ACCA, SAIPA, or similar)
3. 3-5 years' experience in an accounting role or similar experience
4. Experience in the hospitality industry preferred
5. Strong numeracy and Excel skills, as well as practical experience with accounting systems (Xero, Pastel, Sage, VIP)
6. Self-motivated and disciplined with attention to detail
7. Must be able to multi-task and adhere to deadlines
8. Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations
