SUPERVISORY/LEADERSHIP/MANAGERIAL TASKS

  1. Manage Junior Engineers and Technicians under direct supervision on technical aspect of their jobs.
  2. Provide design leadership to Juniors.
  3. Influence Junior Staff and Colleagues to exert desired CKR Behaviours and Values.

ROLE DEPENDENCIES

  1. Draughting Personnel
  2. Internal CKR disciplines for quality coordination of MEP services.
  3. External stakeholders (Consultants; PM’s; Architects; QS; Clients; Developers; Government Bodies etc.)
  4. Liaising with Clients

INDEPENDENT THOUGHT AND JUDGEMENT

  1. Allow project strategy and objectives as set by Client to guide decision making processes.
  2. Understanding client requirements, interpreting them using engineering judgements and presenting a solution.
  3. Interpret situations (internally and externally); apply knowledge of process (discipline; customer requirements) to provide appropriate solutions and make informed project and business decisions.
  4. Evaluate project progress and make trade-offs to ensure the best use of available resources.
  5. Translate overall business objectives into Business Unit or team plans with clear and detailed objectives.
  6. Alert Management or colleagues to issues and risks in any project or the business itself.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree or B-Tech in Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering is preferable.
  2. Professional qualification in Green Building Design is desirable.
  3. Courses and registration in electrical building services design.
  4. Registration as a professional engineer, technologist and technician is preferred.
  5. Revit competency in MEP services is desirable.
  6. Data Center Design is desirable
  7. Management Diploma is desirable.

Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical design, including but not limited to the following:

  1. Schematic Design.
  2. Design of LV and MV (11kV) Reticulation.
  3. Design of Lighting and Small Power.
  4. Design of Backup Power Solutions.
  5. Volt Drop Calculations.
  6. Fault Level Calculations.
  7. Compilation of Project Budgets.
  8. Compilation of Tender Documentation.
  9. Site Supervision.
  10. Quality Control.

DUTIES

Your duties will comprise:

GENERAL

  1. Electrical design.
  2. Carry out stages of Project according to the standard PROCSA agreements.
  3. Project manage under the supervision of and be responsible to the higher management of CKR.
  4. Expand the client base of CKR Electrical Engineering department.
  5. Represent CKR always.
  6. Be responsible for electrical service designs or services that are created/ devised and then issued out from this office.
  7. Be involved in the recruitment of staff for CKR with higher management.
  8. Designate staff to projects and manage them.
  9. Create standard drawings for the CKR-standard specification.
  10. Financial reports on projects.
  11. Continual training of new and existing staff.
  12. Meetings with manufacturers and suppliers of materials and equipment and build a library of said.
  13. Provide reports to management when requested.

DUE DILIGENCE REPORTS

  1. Site investigation with reference to electrical services.
  2. Evaluation of the condition of all services in a building.
  3. Comparison of services with all regulations and requirements.
  4. Producing reports in the agreed standard format.
  5. Cost estimates.

CONCEPT DESIGN

  1. Attend project meetings to obtain client requirements.
  2. Do draft design of services.
  3. Compile preliminary design report.
  4. Provide cost estimates.
  5. Provide preliminary design drawings.

DETAIL DESIGN

  1. Attend project meetings.
  2. Do detail design of services.
  3. Compile detail design report.
  4. Provide cost estimates.
  5. Provide detail design drawings.
  6. Compile specifications and tender documentation.
  7. Compile bill of quantities.

TENDERING

  1. Call for tenders as agreed per project.
  2. Tender adjudication and recommendations.
  3. Appointment of contractors and/or subcontractors.

SUPERVISION DURING CONSTRUCTION

  1. Attend site progress meetings.
  2. Inspection of works with reference to the tender and specifications.
  3. Handover of projects on completion.

ADMINISTRATION / INTERNAL MANAGEMENT

  1. Plan your work every day and week.
  2. Complete work within agreed times and adhere to priorities.
  3. Plan your leave in conjunction with project engineers and project managers.
  4. Adhere to internal procedures and systems.
  5. Fill in time sheets daily, using the system as provided by CKR.
