Maintenance Manager

Luxury Game Reserve in the Waterberg area is looking for a Maintenance & Facilities Manager to supervise the repair & maintenance of the buildings and mechanical equipment, ensure timely installation & upkeep of the company’s property & systems in order to ensure operational effectiveness and oversee & lead maintenance procedures & actions.

Duties:

1. Ensure that all company policies, procedures & SOPs are adhered to.
2. Attend HOD & any other meetings as required.
3. Respond to all building safety-related safety concerns.
4. Draw up preventative maintenance schedules annually and ensure that plant and machinery are maintained in accordance with the schedule.
5. Attend to the breakdown of plant, machinery & equipment.
6. Manage the maintenance team rosters.
7. Ensure that refrigeration equipment, air conditioning, plant, drainage systems & grease taps are always maintained.
8. Maintain statutory safety records for DB Boards, stand-by generator, lifts, boilers, room sprinkler system & other fire equipment.
9. Place orders for maintenance requirements & repairs after necessary approval is obtained.
10. Maintain safety records as per requirements.
11. Undertake routine checks on water pressure equipment & maintain accordingly.
12. Ensure that all rooms, public space & outside areas are in good repair by performing various required tasks related to a variety of trades including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc., to ensure a well-maintained property.
13. Draw up department budget, control expenditure against budget & provide a monthly report of maintenance expenditure.
14. Conduct staff appraisals.
15. Monitor the level & quality of services performed by external contractors in accordance with lease agreements, service contracts & warranties.
16. Ensure that emergency equipment is always in working order.
17. Maintain clean, orderly & hazard-free work areas.
18. Identify & report the needs for major repairs.
19. Identify training needs & implement training when required.
20. Any other ad hoc duties that may be required.

Requirements:

1. Diploma or tertiary qualification in engineering / technical trades.
2. Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Maintenance Manager in a large 4 / 5 Reserve or Lodge.
3. Only candidates with Lodge / Hotel or Reserve experience will be considered.
4. Good understanding of the technical features of plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems.
5. Strong knowledge of facilities machines and equipment.
6. Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
7. Excellent attention to detail, initiative & interpersonal skills.
8. Highly responsible, reliable & trustworthy.
9. Presentable, well-spoken & professional individual.
10. Always act in good faith & in the best interest of the Company.
11. Understanding of electrical, plumbing & HVAC systems.
