Dealership Workshop Foreman (Supervisor)

A leading commercial truck dealership in Pietermaritzburg is seeking a skilled and motivated DEALERSHIP WORKSHOP FOREMAN (SUPERVISOR) to join our team. The ideal candidate will be diesel trade tested, have previous industry experience, and thrive in a dealership workshop environment. Holding a Code 14 licence will be a distinct advantage.

POSITION INFO:

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee and manage the daily operations of the workshop.
• Supervise and coordinate the activities of mechanics and technicians.
• Ensure that all repair and maintenance work is carried out to the highest standards.
• Allocate jobs to workshop staff based on their skills and workload.
• Monitor and maintain workshop equipment and tools.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Maintain accurate records of all work carried out and parts used.
• Liaise with customers to provide updates on work progress and address any concerns.
• Train and mentor workshop staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting complex mechanical issues.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

• Diesel trade tested with a valid certification.
• Proven experience in a similar supervisory role within the commercial truck industry.
• Previous experience in a dealership workshop environment is essential.
• Strong technical knowledge of diesel engines and commercial truck systems.
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Proficient in using diagnostic tools and workshop management software.
• Valid Code 14 licence is an advantage.
