Job Title : Pr Eng IPP Project Developer and Manager
Location : Johannesburg, South Africa
Our company is seeking a qualified and experienced Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) with expertise in Independent Power Producer (IPP) projects to join our team as a Project Developer and Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development and management of IPP projects in Johannesburg.
Responsibilities :
Lead the development of IPP projects from concept stage through to financial close and construction
Manage all aspects of project development, including feasibility studies, permitting, grid connection, off-take agreements, financial modeling, and stakeholder engagement
Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project execution
Oversee project budget, schedule, and quality control
Monitor project progress and performance, and implement corrective actions as necessary
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices
Provide technical expertise and guidance on engineering design, procurement, and construction activities
Develop and maintain relationships with key industry players, government agencies, and financial institutions
Prepare project reports, presentations, and proposals for internal and external audiences
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
BTech in Electrical Engineering
1 – 3 Years design experience in a work environment.
Minimum of 3 years in management position
Experience in Renewables
Microgrid experience required.
IPP Project development and Implementation (Added advantage)
Must be registered with Engineering Council of South Africa (Pr. Eng).
Required Skills and Competencies
Ability to produce designs using CAD software (AutoCAD and Microgrids).
Be able to design solar plants using Helioscope or similar PV design systems
Ability to prepare and manage project budgets and cash flow
Produce detailed quotes and BoQ with detail
Familiar with Eskom standards and processes
Experience in HV, MV and LV installations
Manage implementation of small and utility-scale projects
Ability to develop Utility Scale projects
Knowledge of South African Engineering standards
Must understand the OHS Act.
Strong leadership skills.
Must have own vehicle and driver’s license.
Willing to travel
Willing to be away from home for extended periods of time for projects.
