Senior Mechanical Engineer

CMTi Mining Manufacturing in Samrand, Centurion is looking to hire a full-time Senior Mechanical Engineer. CMTi is a technology-based company designing and manufacturing robotic mining equipment for remote control mining operations, which is battery powered.

The equipment is unique in the mining industry worldwide and is protected by seven different patents.

The focus of CMTi is to change the mining landscape for mine owners, shareholders, and workers and to improve safety during mining operations.

Minimum Requirements for Position:

1. BEng (Mechanical) degree from a recognized academic university. Note: Candidates from universities of technology will not be considered.
2. Must be registered as Professional Engineer (PrEng) with ECSA.
3. Minimum 10 years' experience.
4. The successful candidate must be technology and quality driven.
5. Experience in design and large/mass manufacturing of mechanical machines.
6. Must be able to interpret client requirements to perform modifications/upgrades.
7. Must have experience to check and redline manufacturing drawings – attention to detail is essential.
8. Must be competent in Microsoft products.
9. Must be competent in Solidworks.
10. Must be competent in Visio for hydraulic schematics.
11. Must be able to do scheduling in MS Project.
12. Must be able to act technically between CTO and workshop personnel.
13. Sound experience in the design of hydraulics.
14. Workshop experience – Managing of the workshop is essential.
15. Experience in sub-contractor management (boiler making and machining) – delivery and QA.
16. Good sound understanding of quality assurance.
17. Must be a team player who will work closely with electrical/electronic, software engineer, and site manager.
18. The position is at head office in Samrand, Centurion.
19. Must be willing to provide higher level mechanical engineering support underground – not permanently but as and when required.
20. Must be medically fit.
21. Must have a valid police clearance.

The successful candidate will work closely with the CTO to design, manufacture, and support equipment. Dynamic company with serious career growth. Remuneration will be discussed during the interview but based on experience.
