Handyman (JHB, Boksburg)

Responsibilities

1. Conduct routine inspections of facilities to identify any issues that may require repair or maintenance.
2. Perform general maintenance in the facility.
3. Ensure light fittings, bulbs, and sensors are installed and maintained.
4. Paint and fill gaps or crevices (on walls, sidewalks, etc.).
5. Undertake basic cabinetry work that is required.
6. Repair equipment and appliances.
7. Assist with electrical, plumbing, and HVAC repairs.
8. Identify and report the need for major repairs.
9. Conduct repairs on equipment such as furniture, doors, and windows.
10. Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and inspections carried out.
11. Ensure that each job card is closed off timeously.
12. Ensure compliance with the company’s preventative maintenance plan.
13. Ensure that all electrical equipment is in safe working order in line with current legislation and H&S regulations.
14. Ensure that all tasks allocated are completed effectively and timeously.
15. Respond quickly to any emergencies.
16. Work within a preventive maintenance program that will minimize service repairs in the long run.
17. Effectively complete routine preventative maintenance, unplanned remedial, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance requirements.
18. Keep good general appearance of the grounds and buildings.
19. Ensure that the job is complete as per job card requirements.
20. Make recommendations for continual improvement and support improvement.
21. Ensure that all equipment and materials are not left in a dangerous state.
22. Any other reasonable task that may be required by management.

Qualifications

1. Grade 12
2. Relevant Technical Artisan Qualifications

Experience

1. 2 Year Proven experience as a handyman

Skills

1. Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance.
2. Ability to safely use common power and hand tools.
3. HVAC knowledge and repair skills.

Competencies

1. Ability to follow job and safety instructions.
2. Ability to work without supervision.
3. Time Management.
