Job description

The Energy Efficiency Engineer will be responsible for optimising energy usage and reducing the carbon footprint of our data centre operations. This role requires experience in identifying and implementing energy-saving initiatives, conducting energy audits, and working with facility operations teams to improve energy efficiency.

Job Description

OBJECTIVES

  1. Analyse data centre equipment energy usage patterns and identify opportunities for improvement.
  2. Conduct energy audits and develop energy efficiency plans that meet the requirements of ISO 50001.
  3. Recommend and implement energy-saving measures, such as equipment upgrades, software optimisations, and process improvements.
  4. Collaborate with facility operations teams to optimise HVAC, lighting, and other building systems.
  5. Monitor and track energy consumption and savings over time, and report regularly on maintenance of ISO 50001 certification.
  6. Develop and maintain energy management systems and procedures in accordance with ISO 50001, ensuring that we maintain our accreditation.
  7. Use power monitoring tools such as Schneider PME to analyse energy usage and identify opportunities for improvement.
  8. Keep up-to-date with the latest energy efficiency technologies and trends.

Job Requirements

SKILLS REQUIREMENT

  1. Bachelor's degree or National Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
  2. 3+ years of experience in energy efficiency, preferably in a data centre environment.
  3. Strong understanding of data centre operations and infrastructure.
  4. Experience with energy management software and tools, and knowledge of ISO 50001 requirements.
  5. Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to energy efficiency.
  6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  7. Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  8. Ability to create data driven models to illustrate the impact changes would have in terms of energy efficiency.
  9. Mechanical and electrical equipment knowledge.
