Medical Physicist Session

Requirements:

• Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Physicist. No experience required after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Physicist.
• Knowledge of the statutory regulations regarding the medical use of ionizing radiation.
• Skills pertaining to the scope of the profession of Medical Physicists, including understanding the physics of Radiotherapy, Diagnostic Radiology, and Nuclear Medicine equipment, computers, and software.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• A highly motivated and methodical individual who pays attention to detail and can work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• The following will be an added advantage: BSc Hons in Medical Physics.

Duties:

• Provide Medical Physics support, as directed by the senior manager, for Radiation Oncology, Nuclear Medicine, and Diagnostic Radiology units, including commissioning, calibration, and quality assurance.
• Participate in the implementation of new treatment techniques and provide Radiation Protection Services.
• Involvement in clinical activities as well as the training and teaching of Medical Physics interns.
