Job description

We are looking for a Financial Manager / CFO for a company within the service repair industry based in Centurion. To be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring sound financial management, reporting, and strategic planning. The CFO will be key in driving profitability, operational efficiency, and sustainable growth in the service repair industry, with a specific focus on managing debit order and subscription revenue models. This role requires a strategic and hands-on approach to managing financial functions, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and aligning financial performance with business goals.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CA or CTA are highly desirable but not essential.
  • At least 8-10 years of experience in finance or accounting, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior financial management role.
  • Strong background in the service repair industry or a related field, particularly with subscription and recurring revenue models.
  • Proven experience in financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Experience managing and optimizing debit order systems and subscription-based revenue streams.
  • Solid understanding of financial regulations and accounting standards (IFRS, GAAP, etc.).
Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing finance team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Proficient in financial software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, Oracle, or similar).
  • In-depth knowledge of cash flow management, financial modelling, and risk assessment.
Responsibilities:
Financial Leadership:
  • Lead and manage the finance department to ensure effective and efficient financial operations.
  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to the CEO and other senior management for strategic decision-making.
  • Establish and manage financial policies and procedures to ensure best practices and compliance.
  • Ensure proper financial controls are in place to protect company assets and mitigate risks.
Revenue Management & Strategy:
  • Oversee the management of subscription-based revenue streams, including the collection, tracking, and reconciliation of debit orders and other recurring payments.
  • Implement and improve revenue recognition processes, ensuring accurate and compliant accounting for subscription revenue.
  • Develop strategies to optimize subscription-based revenue growth while minimizing churn and payment failures.
  • Analyze trends in subscription revenue and work with the marketing and operations teams to develop strategies to boost customer retention and acquisition.
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
  • Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, highlighting key performance indicators (KPIs) such as revenue, margins, cash flow, and profitability.
  • Provide detailed analysis on the financial impact of operational decisions and suggest improvements to enhance profitability.
  • Ensure the company’s financial systems are integrated with the operational processes to allow real-time financial monitoring and analysis.
  • Conduct profitability analyses of service repair contracts, pricing models, and subscription services.
  • Lead data analytics initiatives to track and analyze financial, operational, and customer data, providing actionable insights to inform strategic decision-making.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
  • Develop and manage the company’s budget, including operating and capital budgets, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Lead the forecasting process to predict future financial performance, adjusting for potential risks or opportunities in the business environment.
  • Monitor financial performance against budget, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions when necessary.
Cash Flow & Treasury Management:
  • Ensure effective cash flow management, maintaining sufficient liquidity to meet operational and strategic requirements.
  • Oversee working capital management, including accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Manage relationships with financial institutions, ensuring access to credit facilities and efficient cash management.
Compliance & Risk Management:
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements in all jurisdictions where the company operates.
  • Develop and maintain risk management strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks.
  • Oversee audits and work closely with external auditors to ensure a clean audit opinion.
Human Resources & Payroll:
  • Oversee the HR function to align with the company’s business strategy and financial goals, ensuring the development of competitive compensation structures, employee benefits, and incentive programs.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and financial regulations in payroll, taxation, and employee benefits.
  • Monitor employee performance, turnover, and engagement, offering financial insights to improve HR strategies and operational effectiveness.
  • Supervise the payroll function, ensuring timely and accurate processing of salaries, bonuses, and commissions, while ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with HR and external payroll providers to optimize payroll efficiency and ensure alignment with the company’s budget and compensation strategies.
Team Leadership & Development:
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Provide training and support to internal stakeholders on financial processes and reporting.
