Remote QuickBooks Bookkeeper (part-time)

We are seeking a competent and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage our monthly accounting operations and ensure our financial records are consistently up-to-date and accurate. This role involves preparing financial statements, handling ad hoc reporting, year-end reviews, and assisting with audits. Its essential for the candidate to have a strong grasp of bookkeeping fundamentals and be thorough in their work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accounting & Bookkeeping:
    • Maintain accurate and timely financial records.
    • Record adjustments to the books, including accruals, roll-forwards, and reconciliations.
    • Review accounts for duplicates or inconsistencies using bank feeds and invoices.
    • Ensure schedules and formulas in spreadsheets are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Financial Statements & Reporting:
    • Prepare monthly financial statements.
    • Assist in gathering and organizing information for tax professionals.
    • Compile year-end reports and support audit preparation.
  • Review & Oversight:
    • Monitor payables processed by another team member, ensuring alignment and addressing any discrepancies.
    • Track billing adjustments and ensure accounts are aligned.
    • Consolidate data into Excel and review formula-based templates for accuracy.
  • Taxes & Compliance:
    • Provide support for tax filings, including gathering data for 1099 preparation.
    • Knowledge of taxes is advantageous but not mandatory.

Requirements:

  • Experience & Skills:
    • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, Accountant, or similar role.
    • Proficiency in QuickBooks.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Competency in Excel; ability to follow and review formulas is a plus.
  • Competencies:
    • Ability to identify and address discrepancies proactively.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Strong communication skills for liaising with tax professionals and internal team members.
  • Additional Skills (Advantageous):
    • Knowledge of taxes, including familiarity with 1099 processes.
    • Experience with consolidations and ad hoc financial reporting.
