Regional General Manager (PG14): Gauteng South Region (Constantia Kloof)

Location: Constantia Kloof, Gauteng, ZA

Responsibilities

Undertake regional leadership:

  1. Analyse the regional market changes, competitors, risks, opportunities and threats and create contingency plans for these in order to protect and grow market share.
  2. Serve on the regional Exco and contribute to the profitability and success of the region with respect to attainment of business plans, decision making, operations, sales, compliance and customer service.
  3. Drive a culture of high performance within the region through present and courageous leadership.

Tactically execute the regional sales strategy through sales management:

  1. Ensure the regional strategy is understood and work with sales management to formulate the regional business plan.
  2. Ensure Business Managers effectively drive and attain sales targets.
  3. Ensure and drive the attainment of manpower targets together with Business Managers in the region.
  4. Work with the Business Managers and specialist resources to identify, support and develop strategies that penetrate new worksites or market segments.
  5. Initiate, drive and promote various sales incentive competitions in support of sales.
  6. Monitor and track MIS/reporting and undertake corrective actions if required regarding the effectiveness of the strategy execution.
  7. Re-enforce clearly how the different channels need to work collaboratively to achieve the regional strategy.
  8. Get regular feedback and updates from sales management and teams on sales performance against target. Report these back to Regional Exco.

Ensure tactical integration of specialist and support resources within the region:

Work closely with support and specialist resources within the region and Head Office to ensure these are aligned to the achievement of the regional strategy.

Monitor regional expense budgets and profitability:

The Regional General Manager is to monitor and report on expenses and profitability.

What will make you successful in this role?

Qualification and Experience:

  1. Sound Financial Services experience at a senior level within the corporate environment. Sales and Distribution exposure. (10+ years)
  2. Sound management and leadership experience. (10+ years)
  3. Business, Legal or Commercial Degree/MBA.
  4. CFP.
  5. KI.

Knowledge and Skills:

Business:

  1. Broad and significant Financial Services Industry knowledge/understanding.
  2. Financial Services Product Knowledge (Sanlam and competitors).
  3. Profitability/Value of New Business(VNB).
  4. Distribution Strategy and Models.
  5. Financial and budget/expense management.
  6. Corporate governance/risk management.
  7. Marketing and sales.
  8. Business planning, strategy planning and execution.
  9. Market and client segmentation knowledge.
  10. Relevant regulatory legislation and compliance knowledge within Financial Services/KI.
  11. Good general legal technical knowledge.
  12. Leadership and management principles and governances.

  3. Leadership abilities (vision, courage, values, ethics, connecting with people).
  4. High energy levels and action orientation with tenacity.
