As a Junior/Assistant Aviation Safety Officer, you will assist the Deployment Manager in ensuring basic aviation safety at deployment facilities. This role is essential in maintaining high safety standards and effective communication to manage and mitigate risks in aviation operations. This position is based in Airport City, Cape Town.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify and Report Safety Risks: Detect and report safety risks for timely resolution by relevant mustering's.
- Promote Aviation Safety Culture: Cultivate and reinforce a strong aviation safety culture among all team members.
- Assist the Deployment Manager with aviation safety at deployment facilities by:
- Reporting and documenting safety hazards during aircraft and vehicle ground operations.
- Reporting and documenting safety hazards during aircraft flight operations.
- Briefing flight and ground crews on any unsafe or hazardous situations encountered during flight briefings and debriefings.
- Implement Safety Procedures: Execute and maintain safety procedures as directed by the Deployment Manager or Operational Manager.
- Provide Progress Updates: Offer regular feedback to the Deployment Manager on the progress and effectiveness of implemented safety actions.
- Assist External Pilot: Support the External Pilot with safety measures at remote stations during flight operations and maintain communication with the Deployment/Operational Manager to report any imminent hazards that could affect ongoing flight operations.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Educational Qualification: Grade 12
- No experience required
- Radio license required: restricted or general
- Computer Skills: Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Sound knowledge of Aviation Safety, Rules of the Air
