Head of HR

A prestigious creative institution with a global footprint is seeking a dynamic and strategic Head of HR to join its leadership team in Cape Town. This role presents an exciting opportunity for an individual who appreciates the cultural sector and can align HR strategy with the organisation’s artistic vision and broader business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Accountable for all HR and labour relations globally (South Africa, London and New York)
2. Oversee employee relations and ensure positive workplace cultures across locations
3. Design, oversee and implement HR policies, procedures, and programs across all locations
4. Lead on recruitment processes
5. Lead on all performance management and disciplinary action
6. Provide documentation for all labour-related matters
7. Ensure HR compliance and risk management
8. Lead on skills development and training – strategy, implementation and reporting
9. Lead on HR programs including employee wellness programmes, benefits programs and compensation
10. Provide strategic guidance on organizational design and workforce planning
11. Partner with directors to implement organisational change, change management, restructuring
12. Foster diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives that reflect global presence
13. Manage global mobility programs

Requirements:

1. HR Qualification or Bachelors Degree minimum
2. Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR, CIPD)
3. 5yr + experience working as an HR Manager
4. International HR experience (preferred but not essential)
5. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, high Emotional Intelligence (EQ)
6. Problem-solving and decision-making skills
7. Empathy and confidentiality
8. Organizational skills – managing multiple HR functions and deadlines
9. Negotiation, conflict resolution and mediation skills
10. Team collaboration - the ability to work cross-functionally with leadership, finance, and other departments.
11. Experience with HR analytics
12. Experience in a creative or cultural sector (preferred but not essential)
13. Cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively across diverse environments

The proposed salary for the role is around R70k - R80k per month, but the option remains with the client to offer any market related salary considering the candidate's qualifications, skills, and experience.
