Job description

NG Global has an exciting vacancy for an Operations Manager - Port. Is your passion the pit-to-port process of exporting and importing mining commodities? Do you want to join an energetic, vibrant, and dedicated group of professionals? Then this position is for you.

The Operations Manager—Port position is in Richards Bay and is critical to the effective management of NG Global’s port operations.

Purpose

To effectively manage the port's resource allocation, finances, and other business processes to maximise short-term and long-term profitability.

Responsibilities

  1. Manage all incoming products from mines via rail and road at designated stockpiles at the Port.
  2. Report on daily stock levels.
  3. Manage sampling and quality of coal stockpiles with appointed labs.
  4. Book and coordinate transport service providers and mining sites to minimize standing time.
  5. Ensure all documentation is submitted to relevant port stakeholders.
  6. Ensure all shipments are loaded on time.
  7. Travel to sidings and mines as and when required.
  8. Manage site staff and general workers – employee relations and performance.
  9. Manage and execute commercial contracts/commitments signed with clients and vendors.
  10. Oversee and manage site finances i.e. cost control, budgeting, etc.
  11. Manage occupational health and safety.
  12. Manage transport and port stakeholder relationships.
  13. Manage and build client relationships.

Qualifications

Degree/Diploma in Operations/Logistics Management.

Experience

Minimum 5 years of experience in operations management in a similar role. Experience in Richards Bay port is preferable.
