Accountant- Contract Role

Position Summary:
Blue Sky Utility is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team on a contract basis. This role will support corporate accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with international accounting standards, and assisting with overall financial operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate accounting, preferably within the renewable energy or related industries.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Maintain general ledger activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and adjustments.
2. Support month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
3. Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
4. Ensure compliance with accounting standards (IFRS) and company policies.
5. Prepare and file tax and regulatory reports as required.
6. Assist with internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
7. Support the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
8. Provide financial insights and support business decisions by collaborating with other departments.
9. Manage fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposals.
10. Oversee and manage company credit card programs, ensuring expense tracking, reconciliation, and compliance with company policies.
11. Review and approve employee expense reports for accuracy and adherence to internal guidelines.
12. Perform bank reconciliations.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of accounting experience, with direct experience in U.S. corporate accounting required.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, U.S. GAAP, and corporate accounting practices.
• Experience in lease accounting is a plus.
• Proficiency in Yardi or similar accounting software is preferred.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Experience in the renewable energy industry is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently as a contractor while collaborating with a remote team.
