Full job description

The Storeman will be responsible for managing all functions of stock and equipment.

1. Ensure that stock levels do not run out.
2. Track inventory spending, as well as keep records of where the inventory and stock are going.
3. Organise general layout of parts to minimise the effort of selecting parts required.
4. Ensure stock location, records and necessary controls operate effectively.
5. Accept and issue stock only against documentation.
6. Ensure that unnecessary damage and loss, or waste of stocks does not occur.
7. Ensure that all stock records are up-to-date and accurate.
8. Carry out perpetual and wall-to-wall stocktaking to ensure accuracy of records.
9. Maintain effective communications with the maintenance planner to ensure that the parts are procured on time.
10. Secure stock from fire, damage, or theft by implementing company policies.
11. Control and issue acquired parts.
12. Conduct monthly counts of all spares and compile a report of all the stock counts for submission to management.
13. Drive forklift for equipment and materials handling where necessary.
14. Perform welding work where required.

Qualifications:

1. N4 Mechanical/Electrical engineering or similar qualification.
2. 3 years experience in the maintenance stores environment.
3. Inventory management/stores and stock control certificate (advantageous).
4. Must have matric.
5. Must be in possession of a Forklift license.
6. Knowledgeable in Health and Safety Principles.
7. Good interpersonal skills.
8. Demonstrate good organizational skills.
9. Must be willing to work shifts.
10. Must be able to work overtime and weekends when required.
11. The ability to work well in a team.
12. Must be able to operate under pressure.
