Field Service Engineer

This position reports to

Service Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to execute service work with low to medium complexity as per work instructions and in accordance with ABB standard processes, quality standards, and safety guidelines. Each day, you will plan and execute work on a first-time right approach with customers. You will also showcase your expertise by displaying a clear understanding of sense of urgency and care in your own area of responsibility. The work model for the role is: Onsite. You will be mainly accountable for:

  1. Contributing to customer satisfaction by planning and executing service work as per customer order and expectation(s).
  2. Displaying clear understanding of sense of urgency and care in their own area of responsibility.
  3. Ensuring customer retention by delivering superior customer experience and effectively communicating service work timeline and expectations.
  4. Working with the customer (while on-site) to identify opportunities to improve the customer’s operations and eliminate pain points.
  5. Utilizing the local practices to notify the account team about the opportunities.
  6. Performing field service tasks, identifying technical issues, and performing analysis through remote or on-site activity in service categories and products for which they are certified to perform.
  7. Utilizing all relevant tools.
  8. Preparing material lists needed for service activity and ensuring that all materials, parts, and equipment are available and of appropriate quality for service activities.
  9. Planning and executing work on a first-time right approach with customers, and ensuring the job is done on time and as per quality standards.
  10. Identifying improvement needs and potential solutions for them in the ways of working.
  11. Troubleshooting equipment/process failures, requesting proactive corrective actions, and making recommendations to avoid such issues in the future.
  12. Preparing all documents and customer reports to be signed by the customer representative.

Qualifications for the role

  • B-Tech Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering
  • 2-3 Years experience in field service work
  • Collaborative and good communication skills
  • Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)
  • Regulation and legal compliance
  • Technical support and services
  • Quality Management
  • ABB 800xA and Melody experience
  • General Sales Practices
