ROLE SUMMARY:

To adopt an aspirant view to students in their care, promoting the general progress and well-being of individuals and of any class or group assigned to them. To create a positive learning environment and motivate students to achieve their full potential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Consistently plan, prepare and present interesting and IEB aligned Maths and Maths Literacy lessons.
2. Establish a teaching environment that is nurturing and promotes deep learning.
3. Support the development of a Mathematics department striving for best practice.
4. Serve the community.
5. Behave in a professional manner with regard to punctuality, behaviour, and standards of work.
6. Consistently evaluate, reflect on and refine teaching practice.
7. Continuously seek professional development.
8. Teach extra lessons, when required, on two afternoons per week.
9. Be actively engaged in the afternoon programme for a minimum of two afternoons per week.
10. Respond to e-mails and telephone messages from parents within 24 hours.
11. Exemplify qualities of ‘good’, care, effort and kindness at all times.
12. Attend all occasions appropriate to the position.
13. Be a Tutor teacher, ensuring effective pastoral care for a group of students.
14. Effectively set and mark exams and all other forms of student evaluation.
15. Write informative report comments.
16. Undertake any other reasonable tasks that the School Head / Deputy Head of Academics fairly determine.

9. A minimum of three years’ experience Teaching Math's and Math's Literacy at College level (Gr8 – 12).
10. The ability to contribute to a high performing team.
11. Previous experience with the IEB Programmed.
12. Confidence with use of ICT in teaching.
13. Appropriate legal right to work in a South African school.
14. University degree in an appropriate subject.
15. SACE accreditation.
